export format advice

I have a 21-minute HD project that I hope to export to a format such as MP4 but keep the job under 2-gig. At 12mb/s I'm getting about 1.7 gig. However I'm really not pleased with the audio compression. Seems like I'm losing about 4-5db. Is there a way I can compress to MP4 and keep the audio from being compressed so much in Edius 6.5 - just don't see any options when I go to MP4, in fact when I switched the export setting to 1920 it now does not give me the option to go back to a 1280 option-- I guess I can change the project settings but don't know why I lost the ability to change advanced settings on export.

Or is there another format, readily playable on most computers that might give me a better result than MP4, not that pleased with video quality at 12-mbs. I can go higher than 2-gig for the file but it kills my dropbox to do so.

Any suggestions on these issues would be appreciated.

mp4 is a universal format so stick to that.

When you have configured an export preset Edius remembers it and puts that in the right hand pane.

To get the basic options you need to start back in the formats list and re-configure it.

What is the problem with the audio you are experiencing?

In terms of Bitrate it goes up to 512KBits/sec.

If I render a video clip it also renders the attached audio, and if there was a Izotope Ozone 5 Maximiser plugin on the clip it changes the volume downwards. It doesn't happen with GV sound filters.

You could just render your audio first to a wav file and then put that on your timeline and mute your old audio tracks. It should work with a clean wav file!

Thanks for the suggestions. This project had components of audio "hell". Best to just reshoot in the future with the kind of background noise I had.
