New 7.5 build on ftp site

Just spotted a new build for Edius 7.5 on the public ftp site 7.5b198.

Anyone tried it yet?

I agree that it might be slightly risky.

I installed the previous update 192 which worked OK for me, and fixed the overwite / insert bug . Even that version hasn't appeared on the official GV update site.

The fact that there is a newer version says something as to the reason the first version seen on the site was not posted.

That's the build that this this whole thread is about. It's usually best to wait for the official version rather than a half finished beta release

How official can a version be if it's on the official FTP by providing an update version, a full version, an XRE Server & client? ;)

It may be on an official ftp, but if you didn't come on here you wouldn't even know it existed as the ftp site isn't generally given out so the versions on there don't appear to be for general release otherwise they'd show up in the auto updater when you open Edius

FTP download was the standard way of providing drivers & updates in the past.
Most bigger companies providing stuff via FTP that is not (yet) on the website,
because no one has entered the information in the content management system yet. ;)
I think that there is nothing on the public FTP that is not intended for the public.

Nothing is removed. b191, b192 are still available on the ftp.

I wasn't aware they left the older ones on as I never get versions from the ftp site. As I said install them at your own risk. Just because there is still access to the ftp site doesn't mean you should install versions from there, especially with no read me's to tell you what is supposed to be fixed or what they may have broken. The fact that they get updated quite quickly implies they are beta versions.
Even Anton has said he won't install them, so that is usually a good indication not to bother.
