  • 4K render

I have a 2 minutes timeline 3840X2160 and want to render out a clip to test on youtube, I'm using H.264 codec and it wants to take over half hr. to render, is it normal or I messed up somewhere?

The only way to cut that time is with a Haswell cpu. Quick Sync using Haswell chips can do 4k exports. What a time saver.
The other option is a Dual Xeon system with 20 cores and 40 threads,

Resolution (and available effects) expand to consume available processing power (thus keeping time to an end product constant, but only if one spends $$$ to keep the system at bleeding edge of technology). [A variation on Parkinson's law.]

And the availability of new and better toys ever expands to keep one broke.

          Doesn't seem right..

a one minute clip from my 24p 4k timeline takes 2 minutes to export to MP4 using the AVC plug-in.

I haven't put any time into setting up a new 4K preset, just used the HD one I made months ago and changed the 1920 x 1080 size to 3840 x 2160. Seems to work well.

Oh, and I had to change profile to level 5.2 before it would accept the new size.

4K Footage is too bigger to make your computer crash.

I did a 3840x2160 29.97p, instead of 24p, 1 minute export with QS and that took 54 seconds.
On my system using x264 and cpu's, and the AVC plugin, it took 2:48.

I just tried an export of some of my AX1 3840x2160 60P file and a 2 min clip took 2:30 mins.
