Very stuttery playback and no hardware encode since 7.5 upgrade

Since I upgraded to the latest 7.5 update the playback in the play/rec monitors are very stuttery. To the point where it is unusable.

Also when I export to file, 'Use hardware encoder' is still checked but it reverts back to software encode as the process is very slow (10 mins for a 4 min 1080 50p timeline!)

So I assume it's not utilizing the i7 haswell processor power in general?
I assume there are no system settings I need to adjust?

    Many thanks

If your version was prior to Edius 7.x, Edius 7 made some changes to how your monitors and videocards(including Intel) are connected.

If you've allowed your system to do any Windows updates you may have allowed it to update the Intel GPU drivers. The latest Intel GPU drivers don't work for quicksync inside Edius

        Thanks for the reply.

Checked Windows update and no Intel drivers recently installed or pending.

Just rolled back Edius to 4.2 and the playback is fine now.

Exporting using hardware encoder seems to also improved at 5mins for a 4 min clip (sure it used to be faster than that?).
Certainly faster than a sofware encode.

So, is 7.5 at fault then? I have another i7 machine which I can try it out on.

        Thanks again

Still sounds like the quicksync isn't working. What Intel driver version are you running on?

Do you know which Intel GPU you have? What CPU are you using?

What kind of footage are you trying to play back? The CPU is a low end dual core with hyper-threading laptop CPU, so yu might want to check the CPU usage when you are trying to play back the timeline.

As to the Quicksync try updating the Intel driver to the ones from around Oct of last year (I'm at home at the moment so don't have access to the exact driver version)

It's 1080 50p raw MTS . It usually plays fine up until the last update of7.5.
I've now rolled back to 7.42 (sorry '4.2' was a typo before!) and it's ok now. I'm reluctant to to update to 7.5 now!

I'll keep it at 7.42 which is ok as it's my secondary machine (Dell notebook) for Edius.

Many thanks for all the help on this.
