  • My edius 6.5 locked up - now says unregistered-help!

    Hi all,
My 6.5 has been rock solid since the day I bought it. But today, in the middle of an edit it locked up- I had just removed a little clip from the timeline. So I rebooted and it is now telling me that my version is unregistered , so register or start in trial mode. This has never happened before and I am stuck big time!

What should I do to get going again? would restoring the computer (win 7) to an earlier time help or is this just an Edius problem? I have a big project on and I don't want to lose today's work or fail on the deadline.

    thanks in advance.

what happens when you click register and enter your serial? or do you already have it activated on 3 computers?

before you do, make sure the license manager is present in taskbar and has not been killed by an antivirus update

      Hi Anton,
It is only on one computer and has been transferred about a year ago to my current win7 pc from an earlier pc, so maximum 2 loads I would guess.

I haven't attempted to enter in the registration number yet- wasn't sure if this was the right thing to do. any thoughts?

hi again Anton, I have just checked my grass valley registrations and it is showing there as a registered software (2012). I did a search for license manager and it came up but there is nothing in it.

there is no need to search for license manager, it must always be on the taskbar

I see. It isn't there, so although I can call it up in a search I can't find it on the list of programs in win7 control panel. How do I get it on to the task bar and should I enter the serial number in the activation box? my concern is that as GV show my registration details OK it may not let me enter the number again.

            Thanks for your help.

If license manager is not in the taskbar
Go to start<>Run and type "Msconfig.exe and go to the "Start" tab and check it is set to start with the computer

Thanks Anton, when I print scrn all I can save is the background, it doesn,t save the License list box- but there is nothing in it anyway. I am feeling quite stupid at the moment, not knowing how to do this! (should I just enter the code and see what happens? but I don't want to use up a registration just for it to fail.)

I don't see GV licence manager there
Is it showing in the disabled area? as per my picture?
                          AND
My startup does not have your Edius Entry, maybe difference between 6.5 and 7?

Barry, isn't it the last line? it says GVLICe.

that is everything on my startup screen and nothing is disabled. And the licence manager, although blank, is on my task bar. Any further thoughts Barry or Anton? - should I just put the registration number in? (although my Grass valley account already shows it as registered.)

                              Yes Rod
I added a Queri re that, I cannot remember the difference between 6.5 and 7
If it appears in the taskbar then it should be OK, but why did the registration disappear in the first place? Thats a worry
I run Edius also on my laptop and recently had only one rego left and then the HD on the main computer died and had no choice but to use it
After talking to my local reps I am confident if I had a need to reregister there would not be a problem, but, it is still a worry
