  • Edius 6.55 Buffer problem

We have several computers running Edius 6.08 and one on 6.55 in our studio.

Our only editor using 6.55 offsite turns in his edits that always play choppy or stutter when trying to playback on the timeline. The buffer immediately goes to 1/94 when playback is started.

Strangely our 6.08 machines run his edits fine and there is no choppy/stuttering problems. Other than the dissolves and a few other transitions don't work properly.

Both 6.08 and 6.55 are setup the same on all our machines. Any ideas on what could be the problem? Our 6.55 machine has a faster processor and more ram so I don't understand.

    Thanks.

if any of the mixer channels are not in OFF state, the buffer will drop to 1 immediately when you play

in that case it should work unless he has a strange project setting or a serious PC issue

he has the audio set to 7.1 surround sound (8 channel)

tell him to change to 2 channel stereo 48k

also, there are 1678 items waiting to be processed, you will not have good playback until the processing is done, so wait until the taskbar shows the items are processed (may take a few min with so many items)

As far as the items to be processed, that was just because I started his project to take a screenshot.

When I open his projects I always let everything finish in the background before I start.

can I see the clip properties of the typical video clip used? I want to see if it matches the 23.98fps progressive project

Here is a screenshot of a typical clip on the timeline. All shots were from 5d Mk3's, when rendered it plays back fine.

6.08 plays back fine either way.

it should play fine unless there is a PC problem

go to help menu and generate a system report and attach it here

I see no real issue other than that Windows Defender service is running, stop it and then set it to disabled

also, I see you have Nod32, can you confirm that you excluded the 3 Grass Valley folders and the drive that holds the video clips?

your swap file is rather large at 64GB when you already have 32GB memory installed

I would set it to 4096MB for min and max in C drive

I also noticed that your GTX-570 is set to 59 hertz rather than 60
