  • Crashing W/7.5

Anyone getting a lot of Edius crashes with 7.5? I am right now its when I am doing a multi cam edit. I am having to save a lot just to keep going.

Actually I find that it is very stable & for me just seems a lot smoother than earlier versions.

      Yes Me Too

For me, the most stable version for multi-cam seems to be 7.21.1530

7.2 is rock solid. Anything above that has been nothing but head aches for anything involving multicam. Specifically the problem seems to come in when you finish multi-cam'ing a sequence and then you go in to make additional tweeks. I typically have three cameras and then I put the "compressed" multi-cam track above those three. I turn off the first three "original tracks". When I go through my line a second time, on occasion I decide to pull up one of the original videos and lay it over the multi-cam edit...that's where everything falls apart. Sometimes it's business as usual, but often it is either 1) a program crash 2) diagonal lines appearing to the left of the clip I inserted.

7.21 is rock solid for me though so for now...that's where I'll stay.

keep in mind that autorecovery is not working correct in EDIUS7 (any version)

example: I did a football highlights edit and after 7 hours of editing, EDIUS crashed. upon loading the autorecovery file, the EDIUS interface is reset to factory and in my case, the file that loaded was at least 4 hours old, so a lot of editing would need to be redone

but instead, I closed EDIUS and copied the newest autosave file (only 2min old) to the root of the project folder, then I opened EDIUS and loaded that file, then saved as over the top of the original name, so using this method, you don't loose any work and you don't lose your customized interface

yeah I cant say my issue it Edius 7.5 yet, I was editing over a network which is new to me. So I bumped the folder to my local SSD I still had the problems but I cant say for sure everything was being played from the SSD. I will keep an eye on it. It seems to crash when I would make changes to a filter and then click the time line to start scrubbing it would crash.

I have had a few crashes with the latest release too. I do not have any SSD's in my system but all my editing is 4 track multicam. Crash seems to happen if I am quick to change between multictrack and normal mode. I have a button on my Shuttle V2 for that so that I can quickly move between modes. It may happen if I am moving the cursor with the mouse and pressing the button. At least I think that is what happens. I also use Anton's recovery method !!!

                Crashes - not using multicam.

Upgraded from 5.5, which was stable on my system, whereas 7.5 has it's technical advantages, it is far less stable. I get crashes which thusfar seem sort of random, but will happen if system is on all day. I have found rebooting at convenient to me time has so far prevented unwanted reboots. Not just crashes, however, but some functionality issues, such as inability to re-group audio/video on timeline, whereas a reboot restores to normal operation. I encountered effects on/off checkbox problems, which a reboot fixed.

One type of operation which might encourage a crash seems to be copying an audio filter or video effect to more than a few (probably more than 5) recipient clips; screen goes white, "Edius has stopped" but only sometimes. Can't 100% reproduce this condidtion, but has been more than a few times to lead up to it.

Anyone else? Will they fix this?
