  • Edius default audio track names and settings

    Dear community,

does Edius 6/7 provide a mechanism to define default names for our audio tracks within a single project?

Whenever we open a new project based on an existing project preset the audio tracks are labeled with 1A, 2A, 3A etc and we have to click on each track manually in order to assign a better name.

The names we want to assign are allways the same for the current project, so lets say 2A is always "Atmo".

Addionally we have to make a right click each time in order to switch the audio tracks to stereo mode.

Is there a better way to do this?

We neither found a solution within the project preset settings / channel mapping, nor in the *.tpd XML config files.

    Thanks for every suggestion

How but making a default template set up the way you like, and then opening it every time instead of opening a new project? Then do a Save As first thing. That is what we do. The template aso has folders in the Bin that contain files we use in most projects.

Pat's suggestion is an excellent one. When I was doing the Vistitle tutorials I would end up with 10-15 layers. In the beginning, I was naming them as I went. About half way through the project, I made templates and labeled all Video and Audio tracks to what I knew I would need.
Including files that you use all of the time in the template is the smartest move you can make. I had a lot of repeated intros and outro elements. You should also include any and all of the effect presets that you use. I had a particular effect that smoothed out zooms and pans on Camtasia files. This saved me a ton of time.
