the function key is the one to the left of the zoom value

Thanks a lot Anton . . .don't remember which is the function key :) but ctr+T works perfectly.

press Ctrl+T to toggle checkered to black and vice versa

or click the function tool and untick background

I stand corrected Sir Anton you are perfectly correct , it's the mask tool that I am talking about . . . . . can you please tell me how I can change the BG from checkered to black ?

are you sure you are using the layouter? by default, the bg is black unless you place a clip below in which case the clip will show

however, if using the mask tool, you have option for black or checkered

When using the layouter tool and reducing the clip the background shows as being a " checkered background " . How can I get it to default to " black background " instead of the checkered one ?
