  • Timeline buttons grayed out

The only timeline button that can be clicked on is STOP. Entire timeline is frozen even if I just try to click another place on it, it takes a minute to even get to the new spot. Any suggestions. Edius 5.0

If the cursor is black and has a lock icon on it when you place it on the timeline, it means a dialog box is open somewhere that needs to be closed before you can do any more editing.

thanks and a few more questions

Thank you for the quick response. I chose to finally just update Edius (long overdue) from 5.01 to 5.10 as the first step in the process of getting to 5.51. Once I updated to 5.10, it started working properly. I then went on to install 5.51. No more having to work with huge AVI files it seems. Can I edit using the files I import in? Is the quality just as good as with AVI? One other question: download page strongly suggested installing a 3D PnP also. When I tried, this Norton Security blocked and removed the file cts3dpinp.tpi. It says the threat name is WSReputation1. Do you know about the safety of this download? Is it that important of a file?

It is best to turn off the antivirus when installing Edius. Once you get the program installed you can exclude it from your antivirus.

antivirus programs are often problematic, I don't use any protection on my edit PC and instead use a dedicated PC with protection for email and browsing

one antivirus program that works fine with all versions of EDIUS is Nod32 Antivirus 8 with EDIUS excluded like the attached
