ok I know I kinda have a thread on this but I cant find it. Its actually a official issue. If I set up my dual monitors correctly 1 primary Nvidia secondary intel. Everything is right except on quicksync exports (long ones) I get a catastrophic error) when I make the intel primary the export goes fine BUT I get no GPU acceleration on effects and plug-ins. I think its a bug because I havent had the problem with earlier versions of Edius. Its not a big deal I just edit with Nvidia as the primary then change the desktop settings to export. but it would be nice to be fixed.

I have a system with NVidia Primary and Quicksync works. There are differences to you system - namely I have a Haswell processor, 16GB RAM and different NVidia card. But it either means you problem is specific to your system (so not a bug) or specific to Sandybridge processors (or one of the other system differences).EDIUS silver certified trainer.

Sandybridge was a little 'twitchy' with getting QS to work. It depended on the motherboard bios controls and proper settings. Both compatibility and bios controls have improved in later 'Z' series motherboards. When setting up, I would start with the Intel graphics driver that came with the board.
I had an Ivybridge on a cheap motherboard and it had problems with my older video card. As soon as I installed a newer card all of my compatibility issues went away. I don't know if that was specific to my system or not.
My Haswell Refresh(4790k) QS setup easily and I have yet to have an issue with it. My Nvidia is my Primary and the Intel is secondary on my setup.
Setup procedures changed between 6.52 and 6.53.Last edited by Jerry; 03-19-2015, 11:49 AM.Jerry

Actually I need to update my system specs these are my new machines I think they are the z97 chipsets. I never had any problems with my old Sandybridge but like I said that was Edius 7.2 not 7.4. Maybe I when I get a break I will try rolling back to a earlier version of Edius.Randy

I've not noticed any difference in how QS works since Edius 6.53.Jerry

FYI I dont know where the problem lies but there is one, The variables are new systems (2 but different MBs), a KVM switch, Windows 8.1 and a newer version of Edius. Its really no big deal though, unless someone really expands on Quicksync its going to out live its usefullness its still about 2 to 3X faster at h.264 rendering but I just switch the main monitor in Windows prior to export plus the next upgrade will probably level the playing field in fact IF I would have gone Xtreme 8 core on this one it probably would have already been leveled.Randy

The 5960X does 1:1 with h.264 export running at 4.4Ghz. QS is still faster. Quality is in the eye of the beholder. Skylake-E may very well equal current QS times with it's slated improvements and extra cores. We'll see where that goes in 18 months.
Have you tried setting up the system without the KVM switch to see if it works that way?Jerry

Well if its 1:1 its close enough. No I didnt (too much work right now:)) I can get it to work I just need to change the display settings on export then put them back when done. Here is a little tid bit I found interesting, I switched to the intel as my main monitor so I can export using quicksync and it worked fine. I didnt think I needed to switch it back for my SD export BUT when I kept the Intel as my main monitor Edius said it was going to take 3 hours to export my timeline when I switched it back to the Nvidia card the time dropped to about 51 min where it should be.Randy

I also have no problems with QS on a 3 Monitor system
I can control QS via screen personalization on Desktop by right click
The only reason i ever change is if i I use another NLE in order for QS to work Intel needs to be the Main monitor
My third monitor is permanatley connected to Intel
As Jerry said QS was ok to 6.53, 6.54 broke it but it was fixed in Edius 7System Asus WS Z390 Pro MB, CPU i9 9900K, 32gb 3000mhz Ram, EVGA GTX1070TI, BM IP4K Win 10, BD Burner 1 Evo 840 and 4 Hotswap caddies
