  • Edit Anything, except...?

I hope I am doing something wrong, but I seem to be unable to create a Project with 1440 x 1080 in 50i. Eventhough the wizard lets me think I can do that, at the end it's either 25i, 25p or 50p. What is that?

You must be doing something wrong.
50i is the field rate so it is 25fps. 1 Frame has 2 fields. So to get the frame rate you have to divide the field rate with 2. (50/2 =25)
50i can't magically turn in to a progressive frame rate

My source material = 50i; My desired export should be 50i. When I try to create a 50i project preset, I see this (see screenshots)

      01: Using the wizard, I select 50i
      02: I only want the 1440 x 1080 right now
      03: What I get is 25i (not 50i)
04: At Frame Rate = 25, I can choose the field order, the option Progressive (not shown) is available, so I can choose between 25p and 25i, right?
05: When I change the Frame Rate (back) to 50, I can no longer make a choice back to upper (interlaced), so 50i is not available, only 50p

      I do not understand this.

Eh .. I explained it 50 interlaced fields are 25 frames per second.

So if your footage is 50i it is 25 frames per seconds.
Laat me het proberen in nederlands.
In HD is the upper frame priority.

        50:2=25
