If that is too drastic a solution, perhaps using system restore to return to a state where things were working properly?
I think you are right mate. It all started too long ago for me to remember when it was working properly so I think a full reinstall is my only option. I have been avoiding it for about a year but I guess it is time to bite the bullet.

    Thanks for the advice.

I've recently given up on QT encoding for the web, way too slow and the quality is shruggable.

If you can export a .avi file try Media Encoder 9 It goes like a rocket and has setting for just about everything. Not the simplest to use, but the files are small and the quality can be... well... shruggable too! Better quality = bigger files, so go for it!

At least your done in a jiffy!

If you want to go to the Mac, you can use Print To File (F11) and output a P2 structure that you can import into FCP. You can also output a Canopus Lossless or Canopus HQ AVI file, and then run Procoder outside Edius and transcode the AVI file to the format you desire.
Procoder Express for Edius - but i don't have it anymore anyway.

I tried your suggestion but i couldn't get FCP to accept the files - maybe something to do with the "E" and "X" on the thumbnail??? I can't try your other suggestion - no Procoder inside Edius or outside.

Keep the ideas coming though, you guys are my only hope.

    Thanks for your efforts.

So if you can get Quicktime installed your Procoder should work.

How about playing your project out of your firewire into the Mac and capture it in FCP ?

    Thanks for replying Bill

I have QT to the point where i can watch videos on websites that require QT but if i try to open any video file in Quicktime i get " Error Unable to create control".

My Edius discs with Procoder aren't with me at the moment so i tried downloading the Procoder 3 trial and i get the exact same error message i used to get when trying to re-install Procoder 2 (after it disappeared during the Edius update). The error is:
Severe Unable to create registry items required by application.

Will try playing project out of your firewire into the Mac and capture it in FCP, good idea.

I run 2 hvxs and just wondered if you could record to tape or p2 by going out of your existing camera and into another one via component or s or composite?

I dont think you can via firewire?

Let me know how you get on.

Edius to HVX to Mac, someone help or kill me please

    Hello clever people

I am having a nightmare with my whole workflow due maily to computer problems but there should be a work around...

I have a short 1080 25p project on Edius that i am tring to compress for web but have two major problems:

    1. Procoder is gone since i installed an update of Edius and it won't reinstall - I have tried everything from clearing out registry to unistall-re-installs and a million other things, but i have given up on that. Immediate problem then is that i can't export for Web directly.

    2. Quicktime is also gone and never to return off my machine - i have tried every forum and help section in the known ether and nothing works, so i have given up on that too.

My solution then is to export my project to my HVX, and import to FCP and then export to QT from there. New problem: The file exported to the HVX shows up with a red "01", an "X" and an "E" on the thumbnails and so can't be used further.

I have tried to Dub in camera to make a DV file that i can capture in FCP or even iMovie but that won't work either.

Sorry for such a long and convoluted problem but that is my editing life at the moment, any ideas will be gratefully recieved.

    Thanks
Working...
