  • DVD drive won't appear

I have both a dvd and bluray drive on my pc. I have used both just fine. However, this morning I tried to burn a dvd and the option to select the drive was greyed out? All that was offered to me was the bluray drive. This has never happened to me before, and I have used the same type of dvds as I have in the past. Is there something within Edius that needs to be changed? I am using Edius neo 3.5. Thanks in advance.

Does the DVD drive show up in Device Manager and / or My Computer?

What is the project setting you are trying to burn?

      John,
I am not at home, I will have to check it out when I get home. If it does show up then what? How about if it doesn't show in the device manager/My computer?

It could be just a loose connection on the SATA or power connector.......or it could have died.

If it doesn't show up in Device Manager, try unplugging it and reconnecting it inside the PC.

If it shows in Device Manager but has a yellow triangle or other symbol next to it, right-click on the drive and delete it, then reboot your system and allow the hardware to be re-detected.

If that doesn't work, try the Microsoft Fix it! from the link below.

also, if BD is selected in diskburner software, only the Blu-ray drive will be selectable

the Blu-ray burnber is also a DVD burner, so you can use it just fine
