I am a new user to Edius. I am running trial version 4.51c. My issue is that I cannot find a way to do auto scene detection when capturing from an existing avi file on my hard drive. I am sure it must be possible as other basic editing packages can do this. I can work out how to achieve it if capturing from a DV tape but can't find a way of doing it from an AVI file. Please help. Thanks Steve

You can use scenalyzer to scan your avi files and do the scene detection as well...then use the extracted files inside Edius...It will be much faster than recapturing...Aristotelis Bafaloukos

Thanks for the tip. I did try the scenalyzer program however the time it takes to do scene detection and more specifically to commit the changes still takes about 35 minutes which is a whole lot longer than the few seconds which AVS takes to do the same job. Cheers SteveComment

hmmmm
how would any software know where a scene should change, if it is according to my shooting, then I would end up with thousands of clips per hour
are you pointing your camera at the same spot for a long time? in that case, it would make sense
in my case, I am happy with the camera start/stop scene division pointsAnton Strauss
