  • Edius 7.4 announcement is here!

EDIUS Pro 7.4 adds support for AJA Video Systems' KONA 3G hardware, GenArts' Sapphire plugin and Red Giant's PluralEyes. Two new software options—for Avid DNxHD and Dolby Digital Pro/Plus—will also be released.

    Here's a list of what's new/fixed in EDIUS 7.4:

    New Features
    • Ripple Marker (engendering much happiness in Germany, evidently)
    • QuickTime HQ/HQX exporter with timecode and multichannel audio
    • After Effects Plugin Bridge supports Sapphire's Lens flare
    • Project importer supports FCP XML import from Plural Eyes
    • XAVC exporter supports 720p/50/60
    • XAVC Intra exporter with smart rendering
    • AJA KONA3G timeline output (no RS422 control)

    New License Packs
    • AAF exporter Preset Type 5 for Avid Media Composer
    • Dolby Digital Pro and Dolby Digital Plus exporter
    • (both optional and chargeable for EDIUS Pro - both included in EDIUS Elite)

    Bug-fixes
    • Does not decode H.264 MVC properly
    • Audio Fade button not working
    • Duplicate sequence and ripple mode is turned off
    • AVC Ultra Long GOP and scrubbing performance
    • Doesn't remember the 3-way Color Correction window position
    • Creates unnecessary temporary files for waveform cache.
    • Fails to overwrite project after switching EDIUS user profile
    • "Bus busy" error frequently appears while playing back the timeline in proxy mode
    • Loaded clip from player is muted unexpectedly
    • "Effect applied" orange line appears on a clip that has no effect applied.
    • Audio scratch noise is output from STORM 3G Elite while moving slider in ECW
    • DVD menu item does not have same name as sequence marker comment

Obviously there might be minor changes between now and when EDIUS 7.4 is released (end of October), but that's the guts of it. Hope this helps.

        Excellent News, Steve!

        Two questions (as always):

        1. Will AAF roundtrip with Pro Tools 11 work?

        2. How much for the license packs?

              Steve, for clarification:

The license pack is also needed for a decent Pro Tools workflow or will it work out of the box?

Timecode in QuickTime was a missing feature!
The number of audio channels were sadly limited in the past.
So all enhancements will be a huge step for my & other workflows!
I so curious to see the new Dolby Pro encoder option.
Does this create fully profiled AC3 files?
The AVID option is also a great thing for me.

Thanks a lot for the work

So the new version supports Plural Eyes but is there currently a version of PE that works with 7.4?

To be clear we will support import of the FCPxml which is generated by Plural Eyes.

That is awesome! I realize it's not PE embedded within Edius, but I can live with this.

                            When will it be available?

I contacted Red Giant right away after hearing the news about PE. They didn't have ANY information they could pass along. The guy I talked with said he would email me on Monday with an update. If he does contact me I'll post his response.
