  • Robuskey resource overhead in Edius 6.56

Does robuskey invoke as much cpu overhead as the Edius chromakey?

Just wondering, as my 3-year old i-7 audio bogs down pretty quickly when I have Edius chromakey and color correction in palce at the same time.

Yes, I will download the robuskey trial but wondering about the cpu overhead.

    thx

Robuskey will more than likely be worse on your system. If you want to use Robuskey, it works much more efficiently in Edius 7.x with newer processors.

Make sure the Chromakey panel is closed. Also, look at your audio mixer. If you have an of the sliders set to anything other than the 'off' position, your playback might suffer.

Although being so much better than the Edius chrome key Robust key slows things down considerably.

Thanks for the info. It will be a while before I can upgrade from 6.56. Most of my chromakeys are pretty simple so I'll likely stick with Edius version.

Robuskey is for users who do a lot of Chromakey work. It works the best with Edius 7.x and an upper ended machine. If you are only doing a couple of Chromakeys, make sure your initial capture is as clean as possible. If your green screen and talent are well lit, and you have some space between the two, the Edius keyer can work for you.
Also, if you have AE you can use keylight 1.2 and export to HQ or HQX with alpha and import that into Edius.
