  • Fade out multiple audio tracks

    Using: Edius Broadcast 4.24

What I'm trying to do: I have audio on A1 and A2. I want the audio to fade out at the end, and I've figured out that Shift+V will do that, over the duration of 1 second. Great. I select A1 and A1 and A2 highlight (the audio is grouped). I hit Shift+V. Only A1 fades out. I now have to select A2 and do the same thing.

Is there a way to fade both A1 and A2 together? Or, if I have tracks on A1 - A6 and I want them all to fade out, can I select all tracks and fade them with one keystroke rather than select A1, Shift+V; select A2, Shift+V; A3, Shift+V....etc....

I know I can gang the tracks together in the mixer, then play it and fade it live but I need more exact control than that.

    Thanks in advance.

    Michael.

    The following might help you:
put all your audio tracks inside a new sequence and then put that sequence in any audio track of your original sequence

Put all the audio clips on the same track, and highlights all of them and drag a dissolve to the edge of 2 audio clips and it will apply dissolve to all of the audio clips, if the audio is link with the video then be sure to highlights all of the video clips also.

I prefer to click and add node, then drag down the end to 0

Thanks for the tips, but it's still not quite what I'm looking for.

Aristotelis: Dropping all of my audio into a new sequence is a great idea, but many times I'm fading audio in and out on multiple tracks all over the timeline. If I want a sound bite to fade up under another bite, then have music come in and drop off, there are multiple fades at different points in time. Adding them all to a new sequence wouldn't allow me to do these fade ins and outs except on the first clip and second. I'll probably use your idea, though, when a piece is complete--it will make the final fade in/fade out faster.

Khoi Pham--your idea sounds like fading from one clip to another in succession, kind of like a slideshow but with audio. I'm wanting to fade one clip out while two more play full, then fade one of them out while bringing another up, etc... Putting all the audio into one track isn't an option--too many things going on.

antonsvideo--I'm currently using nodes, but it's time consuming to add a node to A1, then to A2, then adjust them seperately. It would be nice if you could lock A1 and A2 together so adjusting the node on one will adjust the node on the other at the same time. Then you could just add 1 node and pull the last one down to fade out, and your second track would follow suit. If changing multiple nodes at once is an option, please tell me how!!

Thanks for all the replies. I'm coming from Avid editing and it's a lot different--I'm trying my best not to make Edius act like Avid, but it's a hard habit to break.

Again, thanks to all of you.

          Michael.

I see what you want to do, as far as I know, you can't control node on multiple track, whenever my timeline required what you are doing, I have to make node also, but I save a little time by using short cut to make node instead of clicking, put your playhead where you want to make node and hit your keyboard shortcut "u" and I use "f" for fade.

U sets a node. Thanks! This will help a lot.

I need to print out the keyboard shortcuts and memorize them all. I'd customize them if I could, but too many people share the system and I don't think they'd appreciate it. :-)

You can do as many tracks as you want if you use the Audio mixer and ride the audio manually.

Just set the timeline cursor near the end of the clips, Open the Audio Mixer, select LATCH for all the tracks, then select the same color button on those tracks (the color buttons right under the track name in the mixer), Start to play the time line and pull it down. All the tracks will move at once.

Not a button but it is possible.

If you run 4.24 .... there is a great BUG in the "shotcut feature"

yes you can change the assigment from a key
yes it will works prompt, and in every new session

but it will never indicating your change in the above list
but it will ever displayed the default setting, not the setting the works at this time
but you have no information about your changes, you have to make manual notices on paper, or you are blind .....

You can customize and then export those shortcuts to a drive like a thumbnail drive or network drive.

You can then reset the shortcuts using the default button.

What this does for you is allows you to load your shortcuts while you are editing and then reset it when you are done. :)
