  • Edius 4.6 + Sony EX1

The new camcorder Sony PMW-EX1 will use new video files (MPEG2 imbedded in MP4). This unit is announced in november and it seems be able to work with Edius 4.6.
Is it true ? and what is the delay for this version ?

Careful Guys... don't get too antsy over the new Sony yet.

Sounds like info from Canopus Japan! They're always ahead of the curve, but I have a feeling Edius will work with EX1 files in due time. I'm hanging back until Q1/(maybe Q2) '08 on this one.

4.52 just came out and you are already asking what the delay is for 4.6?

HIstorically Canopus now GV has come up with updates to different camera formats either as the camera was released or shortly thereafter. I don't know how but they seem to usually be the first to support the new cameras.

I see how they do it... GV/Thompson are big insider guns. These don't happen by accident. Did you follow this link on HDMI form the Pegasus board? Page 3 listed Thompson as one of the big players.

          No surprise, Rusty

It is true (that 4.6 will support EX1). The delay is that the version needs to actually be finished first.

Thanks KH, I see that 4.6 is in progress.
(In the french review "Camera video" , the release of this version seemed close).

At the EX-1 SONY roadshow (couple weeks ago) we have already seen EDIUS 4.6 editing it. Albeit not a intensive test.
                AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, RTX 3080, 64GB RAM, EDIUS X WG.
