Step 1 and 2 or different options, you can try either 1 way or the other

First, thanks for the suggestions. I didn't know about the print HTML. I'll check that out.

If I need to convert a whole folder of footage, I'd do that but that takes time and I don't usually have to. I didn't want to get technical but I usually only render a few clips per project and they are clips that are only 1-5 seconds long that have certain effects applied. The main reason I render these with SHFT-Q is because there are many 3rd party effects that cause green flashes in final export if you nest that sequence and export the nested sequence. (ex: mercalli, Bullet Looks, and more) So I SHFT-Q clips that have those effects and then there are no problems with the final export.

I know. I have posted this issue some time ago, where sometimes I open a project that I haven't worked on for weeks and suddenly it says that some rendered files are offline - and I have no idea how that happened.

1 Go trough the timeline with A and S keys to find the clips. ( and delete them)
2 Create a new folder in the bin
Select all files on the timeline (shift +A)
    Drag them to that folder
    Select the folder
    Use print HTML
This will give you a file in which you easily can see which files are off line and an idea of the proximity of where the files are on the timeline as they are appearing in order in the bin .
I don't understand. In step 1 you say to delete the offline files. So how can the HTML list the offline files (step 2) if you already deleted them?

Great so it is your work flow which is causing the issue and you want to adjust EDIUS around it?
Sorry now your request really does not make sense at all.

If you want an asset to be HQ or HQX you should not use render to convert it. It is best to convert it in bin or if it is a supported format our ACHDD2HQ(X) which can do more then the name suggest.

Also rendered files don't delete by them self it needs an active user action to get it done.

I can agree with the previous request of a search timeline feature but the current one really defeats the purpose of the offline warning.

If you made a mistake by deleting the rendered files I think you have to do some work as an EDITOR to fix it. :)

I do hope that the suggestions above help you to get rid of the offline files.

As I said your previous request submitted 'Search timeline" does make a lot of sense in a scenario as this one.

Also If the files are off line why not restore them? That would be an easy fix.
It's also kind of odd that you would ask that after I answered that twice.

    1. My rendered files got deleted so I can't restore them.
    2. I always leave the original files below the renders so they are as good as the renders and can be exported.
    3. The only reason I render to Canopus HQ is because the editing is smoother on a Canopus HQ. For export purposes, It doesn't matter which one is used.

    So what don't you understand?

Zvit I doubt you will get anyone to agree to what you are asking for re: see through missing media. However to make your life easier perhaps you could better manage your Shift+Q renders either by separate tracks or timeline markers with comments. In the case of tracks you can turn them off before output and in the case of markers you can quickly find your renders and go directly to them to either delete or disable with 0.

    Best
    Dave.

Yes, thats also my answer to such "problems".
I really dont understand that insisting to implement such a feature. Sorry.

But then most people don't edit the way you do, they either use the original file or use the re-encoded one

Who said ignore? An offline clip must be dealt with or it will produce checkerboards at export. Clips become offline by accident - no one purposely wants an offline clip. I would love not to ignore it but sometimes I can't find it because it's a 5 frame clip somewhere on one of the 80 timelines in between hundreds of clips. I'm only talking about a clip that has a GOOD clip under it! Of course if this wasn't the case, and Edius would ignore the offline one - it would produce black frames instead. I'm not talking about this case.

You didn't read my post. Sometimes I only render a clip that stutters during edit so I can edit more smoothly. The underlying original clip is perfect for exporting too and if it can save me 30 minutes searching for the offline rendered clip - which I don't need anyways for export - why not? Again, I'm only talking about a clip that has a GOOD clip under it! Of course if this wasn't the case, and Edius would ignore the offline one - it would produce black frames instead. I'm not talking about this case.

Edius only does what the editor tells it.

Well either one of these would help. Either telling me where the offline clips are or just let me not bother about it and export without worry of checkerboards.
