hehe...I already have an email into Anton.
I am afraid any wine I bought would pale in comparison to what he has.

Converting to Pal DigiBeta

I think any decent tv station can do a Pal to NTSC conversion.
Ask them if you can send them NTSC DIGI BETA and pay them do do the conversion. (they have to bring in in to a nle to do graphics and voice)
Tv stations have High end converters most of the time.
Or you can Pay Anton's company to take care of it. Anton has the equipment if I am not wrong.
That could be the easy route.
Fedex to Anton. :) and send a bottle of wine too. hehe

The plot thickens. In checking with local post houses, everyone here does NTSC only. The closest place that would do a D Beta Pal conversion is in Cleveland (about 300 miles away). Not to mention the multiple conversions loss.
Anton's ftp upload idea sounds like the best solution it the station will go that route.

Whe always expand the color space when we have to go to digibeta.
Things out of AE are done with Magic Bullet. (to go to 4:2:2)
Since you are going to Pal I would suggest
1 expand the color space to 601
2 render out a HQ online file with the expanded color space
3 take that HQ file and convert it to Pal HQ online.
If you are going out form a Canopus system HQ is the way.
If you have a black magic card to go to digibeta I would suggest to go straight to the BM codec . ( which is what we do to play it out to the digibeta deck)
There are shops specialized in this and have the sdi playout ect.
Are you renting Pal digibeta deck?Last edited by SRsupport; 10-25-2007, 07:04 PM.

Steve, I do not have PC3, but I do have PC2. Am I able to expand the color space with that? Do I really need to?
Anton, the upload looks interesting and would certainly be the fastest way to get it done. I will check with the station and see if that would work, If it does I may have a few more questions.
We produced a commercial for cable here is the US in DV. The company (which is Austrailian based) like the add so much, that they want to air it there. They wanted a clean version of the ad (minus graphics and VO). They have a deal with the station to add the graphics and Austrailian VO as part of the air package. So I basically I'm lookin for the best way to convert to Pal and get it to the station. The station sent me their specs and it asked for it on DigiBeta.Last edited by pjsssss; 10-25-2007, 07:20 PM.

I also found a way to use ProCoder3 to export at 24000kbps and 320kbps audio
use the Mpeg2-422 preset and modify it as seen here

I forgot to mention that H.264 is preferred format
note that ProCoder limits mpeg2 to 15000 so that is useless

I think he should expand the color space first.
That is if it is going to tape.

if its to go to Air in Australia than DigiBeta is not required, it is overkill
I usually upload the commercial via ftp as mpeg2 program stream with wav audio at 25mbps
however, in your case you need to convert NTSC to Pal, try ProCoder and see if you can convert a few seconds to Pal mpeg2 at 25mbps total and upload it somewhere, I can tell you if it will be accepted
if it looks ok, I can provide you with contact details of AdStream in Sydney, it is less than $100 and they make the add available to all stations via a key number, they will give you ftp details
