  • Poor Colour Hdv To Dvd

Have a problem with colour quality. With high def project when making a SD DVD the colour is poor. But if i use the camera Z1 to do the conversion the results are very good thanks for any help. I am using V3

For best results you must use a color space conversion filter available in Procoder 3...If you search the forum you will find some threads explaining in detail...

You should use the 709 to 601 color space conversion filter. HD and SD colorspaces are slightly different.

I thought I saw a post in the past that says if you encode straight from the HD or SD timeline with HQ clip as original, the 709 to 601 conversion is automatic apply, am I wrong on this?

Not that I'm aware of, as EDIUS doesn't know what settings you're using in PC or PCE

Ok what about when I am on a HD timeline, and I switch to a SD D1 or DV project and monitor the output on my SD monitor, the color are fine so I assumed that it apply the conversion automatic for me. I will try a short encoding to MPEG2 with the filter when I have sometime and see if it does anything cuz I really think that it is dead on without it.

Ahh, okay, if you change the project settings, then the project colorspace takes over.

If you're creating an SD output from a HD project timeline, or a HD output from an SD project timeline, then you should apply the appropriate conversion.

Khoi, I used to use the switching method. I find I get a better conversion from the HD timeline as opposed to the SD timeline. We were using it that way before PC3 fixed the 'jaggie' issue within the conversion.
Just adding the 701 filter corrects any color issues on the fly.

Thanks Jerry, I'm still on PC2, I'm waiting for the TMPro fix cuz I got a project that has alot of title and I don't feel like fixing it, I will install the new Edius and PC3 when the fix is out so right now I still have to switch project.
                    Thanks.
