  • Procoder Express and 4.51c

Is there an issue with Procoder Express and Edius 4.51c? Every time I try to export off the timeline procoder locks up after a few seconds. I've recently upgraded from 3.61. Thanks.

I think I know what the problem was - I didn't uninstall procoder (a stand alone program) from the control panel. After I did the roll back to 3.61, uninstalled edius and procoder, upgraded all the way to 4.52 this time, I've got it working fine. I can capture SD (via ohci dv input setting) and HDV no problem too.

Mystery Solved - bad power supply to drive

The mystery is solved. When I upgraded from 3.61 to 4.51c about a month ago
and couldn't get procoder to work it was because the Drive that video was
stored on had a bad power supply. After experiencing the same problem this
morning I decided to check all the drives with video on them. They all
checked out except the "L" drive. (I use 4 FW 800 500 GB drives daisy
chained to my Edius Workstation 500.) Procoder would lock up after a few
seconds when trying to export video stored on that drive and exporting to
another drive. Plus I couldn't copy a big file say 1.5 GB video file from
the L drive to any other drive. The tech service people at Lacie suggested
swapping out the power supply to the suspect drive with one of the others. I also had to
reconfigure the FW 800 cables around the drive not powered up. Anyway,
presto, everything cleared up - I can copy big video files from the
L drive and can use procoder to export from video stored on that suspect
drive. So, a "delayed write error" message (when I tried to copy/paste big
video files from the suspect drive to a good drive) can also mean the power
supply is going bad too. Just wanted to pass along . . .
