  • No audio playback in Player or Timeline

Captured footage from Sony HVR-Z5U (shot at 24p). Video plays fine but no audio. I'm using PC sound. Meters and waveform show audio is present. I tried playing the captured video with Windows Media but again video played fine but no audio from PC speakers. Imported video clips play both video and audio fine. Imported audio cd files play fine as well.

I'm attaching my project and device settings.

not sure about the sound issue, the fact that the waveform shows and VU meters show audio indicates that audio is there

I also noticed something else that is strange:

you are capturing interlaced at 59.94i

        your project setting is 23.98p

and your clip properties are 29.97p

        I am confused

What Channels are the audio on? The only thing I can think of at the moment is that you are playing audio on channels other than 1 or 2

Thanks Antonvideo for noticing discrepancies in settings. Figured out how to match project settings and device settings..(..I think). Now seem to capture OK with good audio in sync. However..video is a bit choppy. Seems to be one of the harder things to trouble-shoot as it could be anything from slow drives, improper or old drivers, incompatible graphics card, etc.

I'll do another search for 'stuttering video' on the forum to see if there is anything...but feel free to weigh in here if you have a definitive answer.

            thanks
            Phil
