Since it sounds like you are into creating presets I created a tutorial for EventDV magazine on how to create a "shine" type of transition using Edius presets and dissolves. It isn't a perfect look alike to the shine transition but I use it all the time. Here is the link to the tutorial.

Have fun. I have boatloads of presets created....mostly for small menial tasks I do all the time. You have learned that Edius is keyframable. Many naysayers of Edius say it is not keyframable but it works great for me. Just not implemented the way you expect it to be....perhaps someday it will be but for now Blend Filter is your friend especially when you learn to save presets.

Blend Filters and Combine Filters are CPU saviors from days gone bye.
These two made RT possible in the folklore of Windows 98!

Nothing wrong. Current behavior is as spec-ed. We're trying to get the spec changed.

It seems there is more about edius I didn't know the more I use it!!! That blend filters is pretty darn cool!!! One problem with it though, just say I'm combining two filters and keyframing between the two, when one filter is completely "off", it still shows through slightly.....

    Nope...
Edius keyframes are relative to time.
Sounds like Premiere can be absolute as well.
    Apples and bananas again.

Is there a way to make a "keyframeable" filter 'anchor' to the in-point.
What I mean is that when I make a preset and put it on a clip, it depends on how long the clip is- if the clip is longer, so will the keyframes strech so it needs adjusting everytime.

In premiere, there is an option to anchor it to the in-point so it always stays same lenght no matter how long the clip is.

And don't forget that you can use "Combine Filters" within the Blend Filter, if you want to also apply something like a white flash to the keyframed effect (white flash = block color).

Maybe not with transitions, but you can with the Blend Filters filter.
Use the keyframes in Blend Filters to animate your Blur at the end of your leading clip and at the beginning of your trailing clip.

    Fast, easy and RT!

Is it possible to animate Video Filters?

Hi there. I was just wondering if it were possible to animate some of the video filters, or if there is a work around.
I want use the blur filter as a transition, but can't find a way to change it's values over time. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
