    Buffer problem

    When playing Canopus HQ files off the timeline in Edius 4.52 I find the buffer is regularly emptying out, causing the playback to stop. This is both on my desktop with 2.66 Duo processor and laptop with 2.33, using external SATA hard drives. It happens maybe 3 out of 4 times I try to playback material.

    How can I overcome this?
    Desktop: Intel Vernonia-R Server Board, dual Xeon 5420 2.5Ghz (8 cores), Vista Ultimate 64 Bit, 12 GB RAM, NVidia 9800Gt 512MB graphics, 320 GB system drive, 2x1TB Seagate editing drives (not in RAID), 30 inch HP monitor.

    Laptop: Toshiba Portege R700 2.66 Ghz cpu, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive

          Just a thought - How is you SATA external drive connected?
          Asus P5K64WS, Intel Core 2 Quad QX6850 Extreme CPU, Saphire HD 3850 512mb graphics, WDraptor160 OS, Highpoint Rocket raid 2310 4 x 500gig Seagate sata 2 se drives in raid 0, NXe and Edius 5.51 Imaginate 2.
          Procoder 3.06 and various Prodad add-ons

              I think there must be something wrong at your end I am playing Hq 1440 with white balance filter and yuv curve in realtime on my note book.
              Down ress to SD also plays real time
              I have a t5600 1.83 ghz cpu and 2 gig memory
