EDIUS 7.21_1530 write back to P2 card issues

Hello,

Another issue we are discovering is EDIUS 7.21 will not recognize our P2SD cards as a destination when using the P2 export setting.

In our older EDIUS machines, when we select P2 as our format it automatically finds the P2 cards(full size) in the card reader and allows us to choose which one we want the exported clip to be written to.

In the new EDIUS machines, the drop down menu is empty.

We can manually navigate to the card, select it in the Windows explorer and export that way. That is time consuming and not how the feature is supposed to work, though.

I've been through every setting I can think of to get this to work.

That is with P2 micro cards correct? It sees the full P2 card? Also for note this is with Win 8.1. Does anyone else on the forum have this combination (micro P2 and Win 8.1)?

I think the Op should try the full card first. If I read correctly I can't see if the machine sees the full P2 cards.
Also is the Panasonic driver for the reader installed?

What is the capacity of the Micro P2 cards? I assume they are of the 64GB variety.

P2 uses the FAT32 file system and cannot normally create partitions over 32GB in order to ensure compatibility with early versions of Windows. I think what you are seeing is a symptom of having a card that is too large to be formatted as one volume; if I recall correctly clip spanning across cards is also not supported with those cards.

These are the Micro P2 cards. That is correct. I have not tried to write back to a full size card from the laptop.

The full size cards do not work with our workflow. Our laptops do not have PCMCIA slots. In order to write back to the full size cards, we would need a separate card reader. We can connect our cameras via usb and set as card readers, but that is a massive PITA.

Our Micro Cards are 32GB. We can write to them fine if we use the adapter and a full size card reader in our desktop EDIUS machines running v.5.51.
Our laptops do not see them as an option in our laptops in the SD card slot.

When a memory card is in the CardBus, the SD slot on PC or the SD card reader, it is recognized as an SDHC / SDXC card but not a microP2 card.

If this microP2 card already has a clip, it can be played / copied on P2 Viewer Plus. But its playback / copy speed is slower than that of microP2 Drive. And CPS encoding is not possible because it is not recognized as a microP2 card.

I guess this is the issue. You need a Micro P2 card reader (AJ-MPD1G) for us to see it as a valid P2 card.
I will check with QA but I am almost certain that this is the case. But not 100%

The drivers will only work if the device is attached. So you need a AJ-MPD1G or a camcorder which use the micro P2 attached via USB.
Do you have the AJ-MPD1G attached?

The reason is if you browse we will write it just as we are writing to a hard disk.

We do not have the AJ-MPD1G.

We are inserting the SD Cards into the SD card reader that is built in to our laptops. This is also how we import our video. EDIUS sees our cards in this slot in Source Browser as P2 Media.

EDIT: I just updated all the drivers and still no luck.

That what I am trying to explain if you use the internal reader is is not a valid P2 card. You should the use folder and Browse.
The Micro P2 is only a valid P2 card when it is in a AJ-MPD1G.
Those are the rules set by Panasonic.

So to recap:
Micro P2 card in sd card reader = SDHC / SDXC card
Use write folder

Micro P2 card in AJ-MPD1G= P2 card
You can choose card because it is seen a P2 card.
