I have some prores 422 HQ clips from a BMPCCt that I am experimenting with using Edius 5.51. They play on the timeline fine. Can anyone point me in the right direction on a 5.5 or earlier grading tutorial for prores.

Files from BMCC would be best imported into Resolve first and pre graded, there is a BMCC LUT within Resolve that will get you started, then output to DNXHD and pull into Edius to edit. This also applies to the pocket camera if you shoot in film mode or REC709, Resolve will pull more from your files. Check out Matt Scotts tutorials, links are on this forum or google him.
Resolve Lite 10.1 is free, so why not use it.

The primary colour correction tools in Edius haven't varied in a long time, they are all there in Edius 5 (and earlier) - YUV Curve, 3 Way Colour Corrector, Colour Balance etc, so pretty much any good Edius colour correction tutorial regardless of version will show you the basic controls that are available to you and how to use them effectively. I'd recommend having a look a Matt Scotts Edius 6 Colour Grading tutorials over on his Vimeo site:
Episode 1: https://vimeo.com/27292117
Episode 2: https://vimeo.com/27751218
Episode 3: https://vimeo.com/28084356
Episode 4: https://vimeo.com/28308331
Episode 5: https://vimeo.com/28723023
What has changed in recent versions (Edius 6 and later) is the addition of the excellent Mask filter that lends itself really well to shape based secondary colour corrections ... you don't have that filter in 5.5 so can just skim the few bits that dwell on that.

Thank you very much, I will take a look at the videos. Also, I failed to mention I am using Vista 32 bit which rules out using Resolve and anything above Edius 5.5. Unfortunately, I am operating on a tight budget so no computer/software upgrades at this time.Mark Williams

Don't worry, Edius 5.5 is still great for grading, it's seldom necessary to use anything else, check the tutorials, you'll be amazed at what Edius is capable of.

Absolutely. Just wrapped up edit and grade on this weeks show (looking at the endemic gun culture of The Philippines).
Turnaround time for this one was far too tight so I finished the whole thing Edius. As much as I prefer the dedicated toolset and interface of Resolve there's no doubt that Edius can get the job done.

If you don't know the difference between Azimuth and Asimov, then either your tapes sound bad and your Robot is very dangerous. Kill all humans...... Or your tape deck won't harm a human, and your Robot's tracking and stereo imagining is spot on.
Is your Robot three laws safe?
