Many thanks Rob! - I wish I'd found this check box earlier... Presumably this checkbox is only concerned with the analogue outputs of the NX board. In practise, do you know if it has any impact on the signal sent from Edius via firewire to a tape deck?Last edited by andrewwhiteley; 05-14-2007, 11:01 PM.

Thank you for your reply Rob.
So, can I safely assume that if I were to dub a widescreen DVCAM tape from a DSR1500 to digibeta via SDI, that there would be no (unwanted) signalling on line 23 of the digibeta?
Thanks
Andrew

The ‘Wide screen signaling’ is only generated on analog output (of cards like NX), and it is not part of the active video. That signal is not generated on line 23. Line 23 is the first active line of video in both NTSC and PAL systems and it would be a subject to compression. I think: line 18 or 19. In DV/DVCAM ‘Wide-Screen’ is indicated by the ‘Aspect Ratio’ and it is stored in the DV stream in form of 3 bits (VAUX:DISP) in the header of each frame. When playing such stream (to the analog output), it would be up to the player to re-generate that signal.

Does anyone know if Edius creates line 23 signalling when laying back to a DVCAM deck?Tags: None
