The audio mixer in 4.52 has several options. Is there detail available to help me understand what I'm getting? I'm confused with how the scale changes such that max level indications go from -6 dB in one mode but up in the red at +6 in others.

there are 2 diferent scales you can monitor against:
the first is the Full Scale is showing the actual level as measured in dBFs (decibel full scale) .. this is the one that is reading your levels at -6db
the second is the Audio Reference Scale which is showing your level relative to the line up (reference) level you have specified in your Project Settings ... I'm guessing that your line up level is set to -12dB, hence your -6dB is measuring as +6dB over your line up level when you choose to monitor on the Reference Scale
