I'm trying to make my customer remember that (the easy and the hard way, hehehe).

He don't remember have used the EdiusLM tool. He just noticed that was on the CD (He installed from the Autorun last time).

    Oh, I hate sad/unhappy smilies :-P

Ok, I try to running the EdiusLM on his old desktop PC... But if memory play nice with me, I tried starting Edius installed there without the dongle and didn't work at all.

There are chance of solving this issue? Or he should buy another license?

I'll try again and let you know.

    Thanks for your time.

Mmm, I'm running 1.2.0.15 that came with the installation CD. Where I could get the updated one?

Is good to know that the phisical dongle is intact ;-)

Yes, it's grayed in the USB column, and no listing on the PC one.

Yes, it's emtpy on all the tabs.

Can you uninstall the HASP driver?

Typically Windows will install from the dongle automatically!
You may have to uninstall from the Device Manager.
Done, removed it from control panel. Then removed the inf files from windows\inf (the oem files).

You can check the dongle by installing Edius on another machine.
Done that too. Since I'm currently testing the installation on my desktop since the new computer is a notebook (and he is curently on filed recording).

Want to note this: he is not using EDISU4 on the notebook, I have the CDs, the box and the dongle here at the office.

See if it asks for the dongle on startup.
Still ask, tried backpanel ports and front-panel ones, with or without usb cable extensions... no way.

Me too, since that will mean he lost the license... :P

Anyone can explain me if the grayed Item in the EdiusLM tool mean what I think? (that cannot transfer the license since its rendered useless).

Thanks for your time on answering this.

    Regards,

    Luis

started a topic Migratin EDIUS 4 Bundle to new PC: No Dongle!

Migratin EDIUS 4 Bundle to new PC: No Dongle!

    Hello Forum

Since I lost my previous account (in the old canopus forum) this will be seen as first post, but isn't :-P

Anyway, A customer (since I don't computer/software maintenance) upgraded his computer.

Since I installed everything from scratch, now I need to install EDIUS4

These are the steps I followed and the error I'm getting:

    1) Installed Alladin HASP HL Driver
    2) Inserted Dongle (A small, green one, attached to back usb ports of motherboard)
    3) Insert EDIUS 4 Installation CD and start installation
    4) Typed the serial numbre from the sticker.
    5) Finished installation and restarted.

Now, when I try to start EDIUS it says "You have 30 days left on your computer. Please insert the USB Key to not show this message", and continue working, but in trial/demo mode.

The thing is if I used the EdiusLM from the Tools folder, I see:

EDIUS Pro version 4 in the USB row -- but is grayed and can't used the -> or <- to move it to PC.

I asked my customer if he transfered the license to the PC, but he don't remember.

Just for curiosity: this mean the Dongle is hosed/dead?

What can I do in this case?

Thanks in advance, please excuse my poor english.

    Luis
Working...
