  • installing 7

I have a desktop computer with a small ssd for windows. I install all my programmes to my e drive. Edius 7 needs to unpack b4 installation and refuses to as the ssd doesn't have enough space. I tried searching the forum and spoke to support. They emailed back and said I can install to another drive and pasted links to the forum, they closed the case without understanding my issue!

Well tech support is correct if you don't have the minimum requirements on your system there is nothing they can do. I Know this may sound harsh but the 6gb for installation is not asking much.

Can't you clean up a bit to get to the minimum? ( Cleaning temp files, empty recycle bin. temporarily reducing your paging file and using windows disk clean up.)

If you have another computer you could run the installer, then when it unpacks go into your temp folder and copy the unpacked installer out of there, put that on a DVD and try installing it from that.

Or you could try changing the Temp folder location inside windows

To change the location of the System Temp folder, follow the steps given below.

      1. Right click on Computer and click on Properties. In the resulting window with the basic information about your computer

      2. Click on Advanced system settings on the left panel resulting in a dialog box click on the 'Advanced' tab

      3. Click on the button near the bottom labeled Environment Variables.

      4. You may see both TMP and TEMP listed in the section labeled User variables for (account). That's the common location; each different login account is assigned its own temporary location.

      5. In the Variable value Edit box you may specify the path to the directory that you want Windows and other programs to use for temporary files.

Be sure and repeat that process for both TMP and TEMP.

You'll need to restart Windows for it to begin using the new value for its own temporary files.
