I need to give a client synchronized clips from a 2 camera shoot so they can do their own editing.
What is the best quality? DV, MPG, QUICKTIME, WINDOWS MEDIA. Please rate in order of quality.

    Thanks,
    Ted

What was the source, what software do they have and how powerful is their computer and is it PC or Mac, how do you intend giving it to them ?

The source is Sony DSR 300 720x480. Editing in EDIUS 6. Their computer is PC. No idea of how powerful it is. I can't find any information on it till Monday. But assuming it is up to par, which format would you choose? I know they mentioned Quick Time.

The DSR-300 records DVCam. So every NLE should read the source files without having to convert it.

So the source is DVCam I would give them DVCam from Edius. You will not improve by outputting another format and DV is easy to edit for almost any NLE and PC. How are you going to give it to them. Hard drive ?

I was shooting with 2 synchronized cameras. They want the clips starting at the same point. I also will give them a side by side clip so they can watch the footage at the same time. It is hard to get information talking to a third person that is not familiar with the process. Maybe I'll find out more on Monday. I was trying to get a head start on this. Is DV the same as DVCAM.

DVCam has audio locked to video clock. Consumer DV does not so audio can be out by 1/3 a frame and vary !! DVCam has a faster tape speed intended to reduce the effect of tape defects. Most NLE's will output DVCam as DV in other words the audio is locked in sync. Video is the same for both. Most Sony consumer DV camcorders will play DVCam but only record DV. In other words they will speed up the playback tape speed to play DVCam but not for record. Nice Sony marketing !!!!

Thank you for your help. It's school curriculum and I'm glad I don't have to edit this stuff.
