  • Editing in 3D

Hi I am new to 3D editing and I am not sure that my workflow or project setting are correct to edit and save to the output to file for playback on my Panasonic TH-L47WT60A media player. The vision is from a Sony TD30 which the playback direct from the camera looks great on my Panasonic tv.
The challenge now is to edit the vision and output the edited version back to same file configuration.
I would appreciate if anyone with experience with this file format could point me in the right direction.
This is Video settings I have chosen in Edius 6.55 to edit .

    Video
    Frame Size : 1920 x 1080
    Frame Rate : 25.00
    Aspect Ratio : 1.0000
    Field order : Upper Field
Video Channels : YCbCr + Alpha
Quantization Bit Rate : 8 Bit
    Stereoscopic Editing : Enable
    Audio
    Sampling Rate : 48000Hz
Quantization Bit Rate : 24 Bit
    Channel : 8
    Setup
    Render format
    Grass Valley HQX Standard
    Over Scan Size : 3 %
    Audio Reference Level : -20.0dB
    Resampling method
    Area Average (Fast & Sharp)

Next is this the best output file format for playback to File base, this where I have come to a grinding halt because when I playback the file from the TV’s Media player I get audio but corrupt vision.

The output file that I have used is:-
    H.264/AVC Exporter Plug-in
    Stereoscopics processing L/R Dual Stream

Any pointers would be appreciated many thanks
    Lance

Edius can only output a dual stream 3d file in HQX now. If you output to H.264 you are getting 1/2 res SBS or TB as a final result. It will depend on your televison whether or not it switches to this format.
You will have to manually adjust your set.

Look at the two panels from MediaInfo:
    media info 3d.png
The left side is an export to HQX dual stream. Notice that there are two video streams.
The right side is the H.264/AVC encoder. It only has one stream.
I used the same file for both exports.

I have tried, unsuccessfully I might add, to export the HQX dual stream file and import into Vegas for the specific purpose of creating a mvc dual stream file.
I can make a 3D mvc BD without a problem.

You will need an mvc encoder to create this type of stand alone file. Get out your wallet!!
But for simple file playback, export as TB or SBS and to avc and these should play fine on your tv once you have selected this format.

Hello Jerry I see that I really need get a better understanding of how my Panasonic TH-L47WT60A handles 3D formats. What seemed like a simple task is turning out to be a very complex issue. I do like the picture quality of the Sony TD30 and the Sony file structure just seems to work the majority of 3D TV sets and trying to replicate it is not going to that easy.

Many thanks for your help Jerry I am a bit late in coming to the 3D party but I have got the bug now.
