  • Still Sequence Export 7.2

OK you clever boys and girls - how do I fix this?

Export still from timeline as TGA, import and check, fine no shifts, nada.

Export still sequence as TGA files, import a single frame and check - all good.

Import as a sequence - blacks shift, creating a softer image, no way to fix this as white/super-white is greyed out - setting user preferences does nothing to the appearance of the clip either...

any good ideas before I turn to Premiere Pro....

I need these files for DCP

    I can confirm this!

    Andreas

    PS:
Besides EDIUS I would recommend you to use a DCP render software that can render AVI or QT directly.
The TIFF/TGA sequence render nightmare makes me annyoing. :D

      Hello Andreas,

Oh boy, this is too much, I've spent a whole day testing a new rig, In Edius I can't create stills sequences which have the correct colour characteristics - this error in levels translates to other software, so something is wrong with the Edius generated files - except that PNG and BMP work, but the quality is nowhere good enough.

On top, SGI files work for me, but they always carry an alpha which I don't want and can't get rid of, reported as too many channels (4) by DCP software.

So, now all done in Premiere Pro - they all work TGA, DPX all spot on, so it looks like PPro will have to be the finishing tool for me.

The blame will be Quicktime - ha ha!!

and yes, you may well be right about a rendering tool. !

There are some image formats in Edius not rendered by QuickTime.
So there is a chance that some formats can be exported with higher bit precision.

My workflow is over an export to V210 AVI or HQX QuickTime.
Both formats can be loaded into DCP creation software, full 10bit color depth can be taken.
It is a relative fast workflow.

This is all a bit deja vu, I asked about this with Edius 6.xxx, so it's the same old issues not been addressed as usual, no worries, Ppro does a fine job, as does DaVinci Resolve lite - which is FREE!! - GV, take note, you are getting left behind.

Poor AE Bridge, poor VST support, no accurate and reliable still sequence export.

              OK, enough grumbling for today.
