    H264 export for Vimeo question

My project in Edius 6.08 is 1920x1080 50i PAL.

I want to export this finished project to Vimeo. I have used the H264 exporter, but the resulting Mp4 file says it is 50p.

What am I doing wrong here?

Nothing. The M4 exporter in EDIUS 6.08 always does progressive. MP4 files are generally progressive and for viewing on a computer screen progressive is best.

In EDIUS 7 the AVC exporter can do interlace but I still do my MP4s as progressive and only use interlace if making a Blu-ray.

Thank you David......I will have to book in for one of your tutorials.

The reason I asked the question was that Vimeo reported back that they do not handle such a frame rate. What should I change in the exporter to comply?

I also note that Vimeo say that Edius Canopus HQ is not compliant as well, although that probably does not apply in this case?

I have uploaded all my stuff to YouTube not Vimeo so without looking at the page on acceptable formats I can't be sure, although I suspect the best option is 25P. YouTube let me upload 50P.

HQ would not be a good format as their machines won't understand it without the HQ codec and it would be far too big anyway.

          Hi John,

I've just been asked to upload an edit to Vimeo. It's 1080 25p and the client has a Vimeo Pro account so I can render out at full rez.

Did you finally decide on your optimum export format and parameters? And if so could you share them?

          Many thanks
