I just got a camera that shoots 1080p but after I bring in the footage to Edius if I change the preset to progressive the footage studders. What am I doing wrong? BTW this is with Edius 6 and Spark.

1080p what framerate? 60p should look smooth in 60p or 60i project

        that won't work

        you have 2 choices

        1. shoot in 60p and edit in 60p project (you need to create a 60p preset) (a 59.94i project set to progressive is only 30p)

        2. shoot in 60p and edit in 59.94i project, do not change to progressive, each p frame will become a field

you can make 50p and 59.97p presets in all versions of EDIUS6 as well

go to system settings, project presets and click the wizard, then customize it after it is created because EDIUS makes all presets with 8 channel audio and this is in 99% cases not desired

I just tested 1920x1080 50p output via Storm Mobile and it works fine

so maybe the Spark should work also? providing your monitor can handle 50p?

According to the spec sheet the HDSpark supports the following formats

                      Video Formats (Output) (HDMI)

                      1920x1080i50/59.94
                      1920x1080p23.98
                      1280x720p50/59.94
                      720x480i59.94
                      720x576i50
                      720x480p59.94
                      720x576p50

But then according to the spec sheet the Storm mobile isn't supposed to support 1080p50 either

Both the Spark and the Mobile will output 50p as 50i (so at least the monitor won't stay black). The first card to output 50p as 50p is the Storm 3G.

It is probably your monitor that will not handle it
Run EDIDMonitor from the Edius folder and open the icon at bottom right of the screen and it will tell youwhat your monitor can do

The question is, does your camera shoot 1080 59.97p?
If not, just shoot 1280 59.97p and forget it, 1080p on Blu-ray is not that good without extensive experience with shooting film like frame rates.

My CX700 and NX30 shoot at 60P and I edit on a 60i timeline so that it works with my main camera the NX5U. It is nice to have the 60P versions from the CX700 and NX30 so that I can get reasonable stills from the video. This also means the Bluray is compliant and Spark output is fine too. For my family stuff all is shot at 60P.
