  • Which is the "best" version of Edius?

I have been following with interest the Edius 4.5, 4.51, 4.51c and 4.52 updates. It seems to me that some of the highly respected members have reverted back to earlier versions of Edius, thus the following question:

Which versions of Edius are the most reliable (i.e. bug "free") and have the most "useful" properly, functioning features for serious "home" editing?

I have been using Edius happily (having changed from Premiere) since its release, but on reading the information on the Forum of the rather long list of bugs in the last lot of releases I am reluctant to update, as I have no desire to experience the problems others have experienced, and then eventually have to revert to an older version.

If you look carefully those who have gone back are using Editing cards like Storm and NX, these all seem to be platform dependent (motherboard) and from previous experience can be upset by other programs that are loaded.
I use Edius as software only and have had no problems with all versions including 4.52. I would rather spend the money on buying the fastest computer available at the time, the one I use is now a few years old but standing up remarkably well even for HD.
The new Icons in 4.5 took a little to get used to after the coloured ones from before, but I am now quite at ease with them and have re organized the timeline etc to suit me.
My advice if you are using software only don't worry

If you are happy with the version you are using than don't need to update. I like the new features and always want more ... therefore I updated to 4.52. Yes It has some bugs, but the benefits outweight the bugs.

I hope at some points we will have a bug free version (maybe never!). Just like PC ... it's better, faster everyday, but it never bug free !
