  • 4.52 and PAL

Since installing the 4.52 update all of my PAL output settings have vanished on my NX card.
I re-ran the installer expecting to be able to reselect PAL as the format but the option didn't appear.
Any idea how I set the NX card back to PAL or do I have to uninstall the driver completely?

    Go into:

    1- settings
    2- hardware settings
    3- NX settings
4- system settings and then on the right you'll see 'video standard'
    now set this to PAL
    now reboot your PC
and your PAL output settings should be back.

    Cheers

You should at least see "HX-E1" settings in Hardware Settings, over on the left side of the window.

If you don't, it might be time to look in Windows Device Manager to see if you even have the HX-E1 (NX) driver installed correctly.

I see it listed and the driver is loaded no problem. Yet I have been though all the hardware setting options and not one shows the PAL / NTSC setting change? It's like its somehow got hardcoded to NTSC?

              Hi,
Don't think this is a problem as my friend has the same NXH-E2 showing on his system while I have the E1. I think it is just a later version of the NX board / driver.

Cool.... now anyone know why the drop down box for PAL / NTSC settings doesn't show up now.
The only think I can remember doing is that I accidentally loaded the NX driver into Vista and it took a very long time at a 'firmware update' screen ??

Maybe you killed the board in vista?

NX PCI-X is shown as HX-E1
NX PCI Express is shown as HX-E2

                      and this is the part:
NX is not like storm card.
while installing there is no PAL or NTSC check box option since the NX is both PAL and NTSC capable simultaniously.
If you want to capture PAL for example and your project setting is NTSC, you just have to go to capture> input settings> and map the input to the desire format.

                        EDIUS hardware anatomy 101:

                        There are three baseboards:

                        HX-E1 (PCI-X)
                        HX-E2 (PCIe)
                        RX-E1 (PCI-X)

A letter will preceed these model codes. This detemines which small board (for I/O) is connected to the baseboard. For the HX series, "N" is for NX, "S" is for SP. For the RX series, "S" is for Standard def (SDI), "H" is for High def (HD-SDI)

HX-E1 and HX-E2 both use the same driver package.

Back to the topic on hand, I'm a bit puzzled as to why there'd only be NHX 60Hz project presets. Usually it's all or nothing. Are there 24Hz presets?

I have not tried to use PAL with the NX yet, but it's worth downloading DVCapture 1.11 from the Canopus.com site and going into the settings and changing it to PAL. It should work.

I know it's not capatible. I booted into Vista with the CD in the drive and blindly clicked the buttons, by the time I realised it was already on the firmware update screen where I thought well I'd better not cancel the install now.
I have an XP partition for using Edius and NX.

Right so I have determined that there is no such PAL / NTSC selection on install or in Edius, so then why are all the PAL output settings within EDIUS blank? Does it look like I need to do a complete uninstall of EDIUS to get the options back agian or can I just delete a settings file?
Honestly I have only noticed this problem since the 4.52 patch and I don't think accidently loading the drivers into Vista would have killed the board. The firmware update thing does flash up on screen even in XP (just takes longer in Vista)

                              you need to do this:

                              1. control panel, add/remove, NHX-E2 remove

                              2. reboot and empty hidden system temp folder

                              3. install NHX-E2 by selecting the driver setup.exe within the unzipped 4.52 installer (winzip) Drivers folder

                              4. reboot and test

if it fails, you will need to unintall everything Edius/Canopus, then delete the folder Canopus Shared in Program files/common files

                              then reinstall from scratch
