  • Problems with Playback of EOS7D 1080p MOV files

I am having problems playing back 1080P MOV files from my Canon EOS7D.

My system does not have a playback problem with these files using WMP or editing them in Vegas 12. They are sourced on a 7200 G-Drive e-SATA 0 Raid.

I tried moving the files to another internal SATA drive. No joy.

The begin to playback for a few seconds, when stuttering begins and a red line appears above the clip on the timeline.

I have gotten through the project by batch converting the files to Canopus codec from the bin but that shouldn't have to be normal procedure. This is one of the reasons I have MC6 on my system but do not use it after their brag about working with native files.

Anyway, this is a fine system you have and I would be interested in solving this problem. Normally I shoot 1280P and those files are not a problem.

My system is dual XEON with NVidia 3800...

Thanks in advance for any assistance or suggestions.

    Andy

6.5... I have 7 on board as well but opted to re-install 6.5 until the kinks get worked out with the availability of 3rd party apps.

Yes... The mail project was set to 1440 to match the sony HD video content and I tried the 7D footage set to that as well as the 1080p format.

what is the file extension of the 7D files?

can I see a screenshot of mediainfo on such a file? I find it hard to believe that the 7D shoots 1440x1080

              7D doesn't shoot 1440X1080, it does 1920X1080 24P or 30P and 1280X720 60P and it is .mov.
Make sure that you have the latest 6.52, I remember certain version of Edius 6 could not read .mov correctly and won't playback realtime.

yes, I also shoot SONY HDCAM HD and it is 1440x1080 and I use the same project setting

I often include 1920x1080 footage from the Panasonic GH1 SLR and it plays without stutter, but it is not mov

can you confirm that you have EDIUS 6.54
