  • Edius 7 on two computers?

I think I will receive soon my Edus 7, but I may have some future issues. Some time ago I was able to have Edius installed on 2 computers and by just moving a dongle, was able to take my laptop with me anywhere without uninstalling it from workstation.
My question is simple: one Edius 7 on two connected to Internet computers? Never used together, but will be installed there. Any issues, conflicts or something similar?
    Thanks
    mike

No issues, just don't use both at the same time UEA :)

Thank you. So if I am understanding correctly, the license that comes with Edius 7 is hardware independent? Meaning that I will not receive an error message while activating Edius on second computer (laptop)? Hope this will also be legal, isn't it?
      Thanks again

                Edius license

                Hi, I have similar question.
I work in small studio with one editor(Me). We use Avid MC and recently we move to Edius 6.5(6.54) with software license.
In Avid MC we use dongle and I can work on studio or home workstation....and sometime when i'm on vacation i can work on laptop if it necessary.
So my question is..can I register 3 or more computer and work with internet licence, like Avid MC dongle(now I have register my Office and Home workstation). I know the limitation of working only on one system, but anyway on those system will work only I :-)

yes, you can install on 3 or more PC but you can only activate on 2

so, when you go away with your laptop, simply deactivate the Home PC or Work PC by opening license manager and clicking online deactivation (takes 2 seconds)

then go to laptop and choose online activation (takes 2 seconds)

Thank you, Anton. This will work for me.
Just one clarification...When I deactivate online edius in license manager did this start 31 day trial period and what happens when this period is over? In example I rarely use my laptop (every 3-4 months) and easily will reach 31 day trial period. In this case can I just enter serial key and online activate when I start edius (after 3-4 months)?

                      Imagine you have 3 machines - machine 1, machine 2, machine 3.

Install EDIUS on all 3. It will work as a trial for 31 days on all 3. Use the serial number to activate 2 of them (1 & 2). EDIUS will not work on machine 3 after the trial has expired.

When you need to use machine 3, deactivate machine 1, using the licence manager as Anton says (2 seconds if using the internet), which is a little program which sits in the system tray next to the clock.

                      Activate machine 3. Now machine 2 & 3 work, machine 1 doesn't.

When you want to get machine 1 working again deactivate machine 3 (or machine 2) and activate machine 1.

You are not breaking the licence agreement unless you use two of them at the same time.

Avid does the same but only has one activation which also goes wrong quite a bit (in my experience) which means you need to contact Avid to sort it out. I have EDIUS on many machines and activate/deactivate quite a lot and have never had a problem. The number of times you can activate/deactivate is supposed to be unlimited.

I also recommend you register the software with Grass Valley because if you do ever have a problem and loose an activation it will be easier to sort out if you have registered.

Thank you all for make it clear for me.
I already register Edius on Grass Valley site and hope that "The number of times you can activate/deactivate is supposed to be unlimited" will be really unlimited, no meter how often I activate/deactivate.
