  • Edius Trial Version Realtime Problem

I have edius realtime trial installed on machine with Dual Xeon 3.2 800Mhz. I have to render most many effects and transitions to get smooth playback. There must be some setting that I have to change. Anyone have any idea what I need to do?

    Thanks

to get good realtime, your clip properties should match your project setting

if you capture HDV with HQ codec, then the project should be set to HDCAM 1440x1080

Ok, yes I see. That's much better. I notice that the xplode effects are not realtime, but render fast on my machine. I have Edius setup for AB style editing, and where the audio waveform is visible in the audio track. I have it setup with three V tracks, one T Track, and three audio tracks.

Also keep in mind that most popular 1080i HD formats (HDV, XDCAM, P2) use 1440x1080 or 1280x1080 native resolution and not the full 1920x1080, so you'll get significant realtime performance increase by using a project setting that matches the majority of your native resolutions insetad of using the "Full HD 1920x1080" setting.
