Hi Clive. I don't think you can do it, but there is a utility you can download from the Canopus/GV website that allows you to convert the AVCHD files into Canopus intermediary HQ codec. It works very well.

You'll find the so called AVCHD-to-Canopus HQ Conversion Utility in the download section.

          Zorro,
I am lost with the changeover and cannot find the place to download this utility.
Also for you and Clivew, did it preserve the quality during the conversion??
          Thanks in advance

            Just log in

            http://www.canopus.com/support/suppo...er.php?lang=EN

and then choose either the EDIUS Pro v4 or the General Utilities download section.

If you are going to use the AVCHD Converter with video from a Panasonic HDC-SD3, you should download an updated version (V1.02) of the converter from the Canopus Japan site:

              ftp://ftp.canopus.co.jp/pub/jp/drive...erter_v102.exe

The HDC-SD3 records more horizontal pixels than earlier models, and the AVCHD Converter on the US support site doesn't handle the video correctly.

                Thanks!
Was looking in the GV website thinking that Canopus had shut down already.

Can anyone confirm that if you use the AVCHDtoHQ converter the converted files are 4 x 3 and not the original 16 x 9? If this is so is there anyway that the conversion can be made in 16 x 9 as per the original?
                  Many thanks

The video format uses anamorphic (non-square) pixels, that's not the same as it being 4:3. After you load the video into Edius, right click on the file in the Bin window, select Properties, Video Info, and choose 16:9.
