  • how to nudge audio file?

I know how to nudge video files one frame at a time with , and .

I can't work out how to do that with audio files, would be handy for lip syncing

Works fine here with audio clips.

Just choose the audio track, then put the CTI over that clip and go to F6 for trimming, then choose the last option "Trim - select roll"

I agree that there is a great need for a better VST implementation for audio filters, but how can there ever be a normalizing filter in Edius, since normalizing is by definition a two-pass (i.e non real time) process?

Dave, can you confirm that you can unlink audio from a video clip and then nudge the audio in order to fix lip sync in 4.51 or 4.52

I am 100% sure that it did not work for me in 4.51c

however, it works if I drag the audio down to an audio only track

Ahhh...but that was never possible. Are you sure you can nudge an audio clip on a VA track??

You have to move it down to the audio track for it to work.

                  let me start again

I wish to find out if it is possible to nudge audio that is on a video track but unlinked from the video, I was never able to do it but I thought someone may have discovered a magic shortcut? I am able to zoom to frame level and drag it frame by frame, so it should technically be possible to nudge frame by frame

meanwhile I move the audio to audio track as I always have

Like I said earlier, this was never possible even when trimming was introduced.

When you use a selection tool, it automatically selects the upper video portion of a clip (if the clip is unlinked).

You can do this (if I'm following it rightly) - you need to use the ALT key and click the outside edges of the In and Out points of the clip. (ie. manually select the outer edges of the clip instead of using the 'trim - roll'.

But then, I'm sure everyone knew this one. So the shorter answer to the REAL question here is, "no, there is no quick shortcut method."

I am aware of the alt+click the edges but it does not work

If I alt+click the edges of an audio clip on a VA track and then use , or . to nudge, the clip does not nudge, however, I noticed that the waveform (if enabled) inside the clip actually nudges without nudging the clip, this is getting more interresting by the minute, it will do the job in an unusual way

when placing the same clip on an A track, the actual clip nudges

You're doing a slip edit instead of a rolling edit (nudge).

                          You want: ][AUDIO CLIP][

                          and not: [AUDIO CLIP]

I should add that it is working as of v4.52

                            your drawing got me curious

wow, never in a million years would I have figured to alt+click outside the clip edges in blank timeline area, this now works as intended

that is incredible that Alt+click in empty space next to clip can invert the [ to an ]
