  • How to transition between tracks - Edius 2.5

My main program is on track 1 VA and I want to place a clip on track 2 VA with a dissolve to track 2 rather than just cutting to it. I am using Edius 2.5.

I'm sure it's simple, but when I try to apply a transition effect to track 2, it won't take it.

    Thanks for your help.

Do a search for Extend Clips When Applying Transition and it may give you some help. Also if you are using AB sytle editing that you suggest, make sure your clip on 2 VA overlaps the one on 1 VA and then apply the dissolve transition in the mixer track on 2 VA. To look a bit smoother you may also want to put on on the end of the clip (mixer track again) on 1 VA.

Make sure you are applying the transition to the mixer track and not the clip itself.

Does 2.5 extend clips? I forget!

Be sure to delete any Transparancy rubberbands in the Mixer Track. (You can't use Transparancy rubberbands and Transitions in the same mixer track.)

        Transition on Track 2 ???

I should have stated that I wanted to apply a transition to track 2, rather than a dissolve. My mistake! I know how to do a dissolve using the mixer, I just wanted to use some other type of transition.

I'm not sure if I can do it in Edius 2.5. Does later versions allow it?

You can use any transition just as I suggested with the dissolve in my first post.

Like Pat said overlap the clips so that the clip on 2 is over the clip on 1.

Then place any transition you want on the keyer track at the beginning of track 2.

It should work without a problem. :)

All the above is correct - But I was confused by this also - the actual video track is not where you put your transition its the track below thats looks like the audio but it does look blank this is where to put the transition then if your default is 1 second on the transition use 0.5 second time line incriment to allow you to handle the transition better.
