  • EDIUS INSTALL with an NVIDIA 6600 canopus INI file edit PLEASE HELP

    I have decided to go for broke with EDIUS and I have resurected a copy of EDIUS 2 and a 2.5 upgrade I have had for some time.

    I have ordered my 2.5 to EDIUS PR3 upgrade and also my 3 to 4 upgrade to I am waiting on delivery of them this week.

    Can wait to get the 4.5 upgrade on and get on with editing with EDIUS.

    The machine has Premier 6.5 for a couple of projects I have been working on last month.......They have already gone to the client and I await approval beforE duplication....So jusT incase I need to make changes I have put Prem 6.5 back on the new machine.

    The machine is working well in premier BUT I have no overlay in EDIUS.

    Now I did install this a while back and the tech support instructed me to edit the canopus INI file which did the trick. BUT I cant remeber how I did it. Can anyone help Its 22.14 pm in the UK I am hoping to get it done this evening as I have a long day tomorrow. I hope someone can help here........thanks

    Cath

      Have you tried changing the options in the DVStorm-RT Hardware Settings of EDIUS? You need to close EDIUS and start it up again after making a change to the overlay setting.

            OK will look there...............

            I have a little more info

            If I put a clip in the left hand monitor or on the time line and play them nothing appears in the left or right monitor window

            But

            When I get hold od the monitor window top bar with the mouse and move it about slightly I get overlay, audio monitors work, it all works??

              That's normal. When you drag the window, a copy of the overlay is "drawn" to the screen (that's why performance sucks when you have "show window contents while dragging" enabled in Windows).

              Overlay bypasses the normal "continual drawing" and doesn't impact performance nearly as much as normal drawing (aka "blit-ing") to the screen.

                I am not getting anything in the left and right monitor windows when the clips are playing UNLESS I move the monitor window around....this is the only time I get to see whats playing.

                I have just had EDIUS running with no problen on a machine with a MATROX G550 video card in with 32 meg of video memory that had perfect overlay

                I am trying to get the NVIDIA FX6600 to give me the same..............The last time I was given an updat to the canopus INI file as follows BUT it does not make any difference?

                Am I putting it in the right order in the INI file.................I am a little lost at this level.

                The edit given to me by Canopus uk about 18 mths ago as follows:

                [CtsHal]
                OverlayUpdateMethod=1
                [DVStorm-RT.stmcore.conf]
                OverlayMethod=1
                [DVStorm-RT.stmdd]
                OverlayUpdateMethod=1

                Look familiar???

                  Yes, but that was prior to EDIUS exposing it in its own GUI.
                  As StormDave suggestions, launch EDIUS, then go to Settings > Hardware Setting > DVStorm-RT > Overlay

                    Thes dialogs do not exsist in EDIUS 2.5 well I can find them anyway, that does not mean it is'nt there................

                    I have found an upgrade to 2.53 This has solved the Known issues with the Graphics card so I am up and running

                    Thanks for all your help and replies This is a great source for EDIUS editors!

                    I hope to be able to get a fellow member out of a problem as my knowlege grows!!!

                      Sorry Cathryn, I forgot that you're still using EDIUS v2... The mentioned setting doesn't appear until v4... or was it a late version of v3? My memory fails me...

                      Glad to hear you're up again... and I really recommend taking at look at v4. Many of the folks around the office agree - EDIUS v3 and onward is a completely and totally different animal from what was called "EDIUS" before that.
