A video tutorial on Same Day Edits with Edius

EventDV magazine approached me recently with the idea of creating a video tutorial for the magazine website on how our company does a Same Day Edit with Edius. It has some of my planning strategies and I tried to show off a little of Edius's power with the work flow.

After alot of work it is all up and running. If you have seen the October issue of EventDV magazine there is a print version of the same tutorial in the magazine. The online version shows all the steps of how it all comes together.

Just wanted to let those of you pondering SDEs know there is more help online thanks to EventDV magazine...and if you are an Edius user it is even more helpful.....at least I hope it is. :-)

It was more work to create than I originally planned so hopefully it will be a benefit to some.

Luckily version 4.5 came out just in time for me to show the new interface in the tutorial.

I'm not sure I thanked you enough for your terrific tutorial on SDE's.
We have a SDE Saturday and I thought it worth revisiting on the forum.

In the past I used footage from another wedding as placeholders, but the titles work nicely. I now have a shot list matching my titles!

To speed things up I constantly use the new Fade buttons and I now use Snap to Rubberband nodes... nodes I already have on the titles in the upper tracks!

I haven't experimented with the new fade buttons yet and the snap to rubberband nodes will have to have some experimenting on my end. Anything to speed up the process.

I made the tutorail when 4.5 was just released and hadn't even delved into the new fade button functionality. I was going with my 4.2? workflow with the new 4.5 interface. There are always new techniques we don't know about. Guess I got some new ones to play with.

Glad it helped a little. It was fun to make but very time consuming. I have toyed with the idea of offering a few more video tutorials to the EventDV site if I can find the time. How much can I create that Mike Downey hasn't already covered somewhere else? He's the master....!
