  • Restoring Offline Clips

Using Version 4.61. I captured about 15 clips via P2 Select, like I have done for the past 3 years. Using Dell Precicion M4400 with a P2 card slot on the side. Method is Copy and Import with, copy to under project folder box not checked.
I edited the piece setting a sequence of all the clips, as I always do. When I pulled the P2 card the timeline clips desapeard, but I found the clips in the clip folder inside the Content folder. I was able to bring the clips using the clip restoration diolog and saved the project. When I opened the project again, the clips were still missing from the timeline but I can see them in the bin and the Restore Offline Cips box does not open again.
    1. Why are the clips not importing any more? But they are in the Content folder.
    2. Is there a way to open the "Find Off Line Clips" dialogue box?

I double click on a grey clip in the timeline and the restore clip box pops up blank, with no clips to restore. The clips are in the bin but don't know how to restore the timeline.

        Can't Restore Clips

This is what I get when I double click a grey clip in the time line. When I open the project, the restore window does not open. The clips are in the P2 folder, but do not load in the timeline.

The restore offline clip option in the file menu is greyed out.

It could be that you did not transfer the files.
Try adding the P2 card. Close EDIUS. Start it and see if they are read correctly.

The files are in the clip folder inside de content folder which is the main P2 folder. I was able to resore them once but after I saved the project and opened it again, they were gone again and the restore box would not open again. Only when I double click a grey clip, but with no info as the pix that I posted shows.

Yes you said that already (no need to repeat) can you please try to insert the P2 card?
Can you also check the path of the xml in one of the clips and make a screen shot and upload it.

                      Sure :
select on of the offline clips on the timeline.
                      Press alt+enter
                      Click on file info:
That panel will display the path.

Take a screenshot of it and attach it to yours post.

looks like the files have not been copied from card to hard disk?

That was my first reaction, but I found them in the contents folder, like I said before. And now they are in the bin and nowhere to go,

In think that the files point to the original P2 path .
I can't remember exactly but if the copy was not done correct the path would not be set to the disk. You have to insert the P2 card in the reader for EDIUS to find the path so it "registers the clips"
I think EDIUS is not showing the path because the path does not exists. ( card/reader not there)

And sorry 4.61 has faded from my memory......

The best bet is to insert the card . Or try an older copy of the project where you could restore them as you said.
