The editor is where you build it and the monitor is where you preview it. If you have a GV card for export to monitor, you can see it in real time on the external monitor as well as the Edius preview monitor.
Layouter also works this way. I don't see an issue here.

            i have 2 pc screens,
one with the monitor where i saw my change but...to create very complicated mask, it s not easy to look at the mask screen while looking at the result on my left screen ?

there may be an option or a change to fix that i hope so

Move the mask screen to the same screen as the monitor.

Go to Mask box and in the upper center next to the Red X is a Function Button. Click on it and make sure the first 2 have check marks by them. You will then be able to see the effect and transparency in the Mask monitor.

it shows me an alpha channel, empty one, not my video channel.

I can confirm that the mask window does not show the clip below, I have to look at my external mon to see the result, or the EDIUS timeline preview

you will never see the result in the mask window, I have no idea why, maybe a feature or a bug?

Ahhh. Maybe I understand the question now. If looking at Alpha, you will see the checkerboard. This is like several of the complicated filters that only show in the Recorder monitor not in the Mask window (i.e. Chrominance).

But you should see an effect in Mask. For example, highlighting something inside of mask should show in the Mask Monitor as you do it as long as you Scrub. However if you hit Play it will only show in the Recorder monitor.

thanks you anton to confirm that im not mad this time lol,

Jerry, gv, it may be so nice if you can ask to the developper to work on that,
because there is a small latency between both screens so we have to look at 2 screens and wait the latency to see our mask building,

second, for simple mask like antons exemple its not very important but
for complexe architecture like the "Arc de Triomphe", it would be great.

Even if edius is not a composer but an editor, this small option would be a + for us.
                              see ya !
