I am using Edius 6.01 version and when I edit clips , everything is fine, export to file, etc. Now when I try to play back the clips in VLC I get the following message "VLC does not support the audio or video format 'CUVC' ". The clips will play in badly in Windows media player, by badly I mean a lot of shaking and stopping, in other words they don't play smoothly. I also get a 'pillar box' effect on the clips after they come out of Edius. I've looked at my project settings and I'm not sure if I am overlooking something. The Clips are HD AVCHD 1920 x 1080 and PAL format. Thanks

snatch media: You might want to put your workstation specifications in your signature block. It may help in diagnosing the problem.
I have trouble playing HD clips in Windows Media on one of my computers, (not listed below) but it is old and has some performance issues with hardware.Regards,
Jon

About that PC that gave you problems - does it have the Canopus codec installed? Is the PC you got problems on the same PC that has EDIUS installed on it?TingSern

Is the frame rate the problem?
You say PAL but you are using 29.97
Also you might want to update to Edius 6.08, if you are using 6.01Edius 8.53WG, Vistitle 2.8, Windows 10 x64 Pro Fall Update, Asus Z87 Pro, Intel i7-4770K, 16 GB 1600 Corsair Vengence LP RAM, Samsung 840 Pro SSD 256GB, WD Black 2TB media drive, Intel HD 4600 GPU, MSI GTX660 2GB VGA, Coolermaster Silencio 652 case, Noctua NH-U12S CPU cooler, Cakewalk UA-25EX USB audio interface, Cakewalk MA-15D monitor speakers, BM Intensity Pro 4K, PlextorPX-LB950SA BD writer, Dell U2410 Monitor

why are you trying to play Canopus AVI files in media players?
Windows Media Player is incorrectly preset by Microsoft to play all avi files with lower field first, but Canopus files are correctly upper field first, so they will flicker in media player
if you want flicker free playback in media players, export to mpeg2 HD (very fast) or Windows Media HDAnton Strauss

VLC will not play them but the player I pointed you to in post number 2 always plays them if:
1 it is installed on a machine with EDIUS
2 It is installed on a machine without EDIUS, on which the codec pack is installed.
note: the free codec pack should not be installed on a machine with EDIUS as EDIUS installs its own canopus codec pack.
We are at post 14 now.......Attached Files
